Instagram: protectgrandcanyonThe Little Colorado River near the town of Cameron on the Navajo Nation is lined with over 50 abandoned uranium mines and mill sites. In many cases these contaminated areas are adjacent to homes. It is an atrocity that people should be waiting decades for the government to clean up its mess - all of these mines produced ore that was bought by the USA. Legal settlements will soon lead to the cleanup of about 10% of these mines. That’s not enough. Too many lives have already been lost, too many people already affected. It’s time to #cleanupthemines.Dr. Denielle Perry is discussing the past and future of the Wild & Scenic Rivers Act on its 50th anniversary year.Bring your lunch to Riordan Mansion State Historic Park from 12:15 to 1pm today 9/10/18 and be inspired to protect rivers!
